Kitchen CAD blocks
Kitchen CAD blocks for residential plans and cabinet elevations: gas and electric ranges, cooktops, a built-in oven and a microwave, refrigerators and a chest freezer, single, round and colander kitchen sinks, a laundry sink and a range hood. Appliances that need both drawings come in plan and front elevation, so the same microwave oven or range hood works in the floor plan and in the elevation of the cooking wall.

About kitchen CAD blocks
The four-burner cooktop and the electric cooktop are 23⅝″ (600 mm) wide in plan, the 600 mm module of European cabinetry, while the classic range is 26½″ (672 mm) wide. The side-by-side refrigerator takes 39⅝″ × 37¾″ (1007 × 960 mm) in plan and the two-door refrigerator stands 33½″ × 66⅞″ (850 × 1700 mm) in elevation. Sinks go from an 18⅞″ (480 mm) round kitchen sink to the kitchen sink with colander at 35⅜″ (900 mm), plus a laundry sink for the utility room and a chest freezer 37¼″ × 30⅝″ (945 × 779 mm) for the garage or pantry.
US kitchens are built around 24″ (610 mm) deep base cabinets and a 36″ (914 mm) counter height, with ranges usually 30″ (762 mm) wide and refrigerator openings of 30, 33 or 36″ (762, 838 or 914 mm). The NKBA guidelines ask for work aisles of 42″ (1067 mm) for one cook and 48″ (1219 mm) for two, and a work triangle between sink, cooktop and refrigerator with legs of 4–9′ (1219–2743 mm) and a total under 26′ (7925 mm). Range hoods are commonly hung 24–30″ (610–762 mm) above the cooking surface, but the manufacturer's figure governs. Draw the plan blocks first to fix the triangle and the aisles, then reuse the elevation blocks on the cabinet elevations so both drawings agree.
Frequently asked questions
What is the kitchen work triangle?
It links the sink, the cooktop and the refrigerator. NKBA guidelines keep each leg between 4′ and 9′ (1219–2743 mm), the total under 26′ (7925 mm), and no leg crossing an island or peninsula by more than 12″ (305 mm). Measure it between the centers of the appliance blocks in plan.
How much counter space goes next to a range?
NKBA recommends at least 12″ (305 mm) of landing area on one side of a cooking surface and 15″ (381 mm) on the other. Draw the kitchen range or a cooktop block in plan, then measure the counter on each side before you fix the cabinet widths and the filler strips.
Will a 600 mm appliance block fit a US cabinet run?
A 23⅝″ (600 mm) (600 mm) cooktop sits comfortably in a standard 24″ (610 mm) deep counter, but US ranges and range openings are usually 30″ (762 mm) wide. Use these blocks for the footprint, then confirm the cut-out against the appliance you actually specify, since cut-out sizes differ by brand.
Which kitchen blocks come in front elevation?
The built-in oven, kitchen range, two-door refrigerator, laundry sink, kitchen sink with faucet, microwave oven and range hood, ready for a cabinet elevation drawn to a 36″ (914 mm) counter. The rest are plan views for the floor plan and the electrical layout.
How wide is a refrigerator opening?
US openings are commonly 30″, 33″ or 36″ (762, 838 or 914 mm) wide. The two-door refrigerator here is 33½″ (850 mm) wide and the side-by-side refrigerator 37¾″ (960 mm) wide in plan. Leave room on the hinge side so the doors open past 90° and the crisper drawers slide out.
