Who makes cadgrid.net
cadgrid.net is made by an architect who loves CAD drawing. His career has been spent mostly on residential building projects, from single-family homes to apartment buildings, and from the first floor plans to the construction details. In that work every bed, kitchen and parking space has to fit at its real size.
He has used many other CAD block and resource sites, and he knows the sector from the user’s side. Too often the blocks came without a scale or in unknown units, with no dimensions on the page and the base point somewhere far away. A sofa that inserts at the size of a building, or a car you have to measure before you can trust it, costs time on every project.
cadgrid.net doesn’t set out to replace those sites, just to raise the bar. Every block is checked and drawn at its real size, its dimensions are on its page in inches and millimeters, and it’s shown next to a 6 ft person so you can see how big it is before you download it.

How every block is made
-
Drawn in AutoCAD
Each block starts as a DWG drawn to real dimensions, in plan, elevation or 3D.
-
Units checked
Our converter reads the units saved in the file and compares the size with what the object should measure. Doubtful blocks are checked by hand.
-
Base point and two versions
The base point moves to 0,0, and the block is saved in inches and in millimeters as a DWG for AutoCAD 2000 and later.
-
Shown next to a person
Every block is drawn to scale next to the same 6 ft figure, and its page lists its real dimensions.
