1. Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is the owner of cadgrid.net, the architect who runs the site:
| Website | cadgrid.net |
|---|---|
| info@cadgrid.net |
2. What we collect and why
We only collect what we need to run the site, keep it safe and answer you, and we keep it only for the time shown below.
| Data | Why | Legal basis | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server logs: IP address, browser, pages visited, date and time | To keep the site secure and working, and to stop abuse | Legitimate interest | Deleted automatically by our hosting provider’s log rotation. We don’t keep copies. |
| Abuse protection: a salted hash of your IP address, never the address itself | To limit how many files can be downloaded, and how many messages sent, from one connection in an hour | Legitimate interest | One hour, then deleted automatically |
| Download counts: how many times each file is downloaded | To show popular blocks and decide what to draw next. Counts are not linked to you. | Not personal data | As long as the block is online |
| Messages and block requests: name, email, block page and message | To answer you and draw the blocks you ask for | Your consent, given when you send the form | Only as long as we need it to answer you, then deleted. If the form shows an error, what you typed is kept for 10 minutes so you don’t have to type it again. |
| Cookies and similar technologies | Visit statistics, ads once they are switched on, remembering your choices | Your consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland | See section 3 |
3. Cookies, statistics and advertising
Statistics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and blocks are most useful. It runs with Google Consent Mode:
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default and are only set if you allow them. Until then, Google Analytics only receives cookieless signals, such as the page you viewed, that can’t recognize you from one visit to the next.
- Everywhere else, Google Analytics sets its own first-party cookies (named _ga) to tell new visits from returning ones.
Analytics never sets ad cookies: ad storage is switched off for every visitor. Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses, and we keep its data for 14 months; after that it is deleted automatically. You can block it on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Advertising
To stay free, cadgrid.net may show ads served by Google AdSense or other advertising networks. When ads are switched on, these networks and their partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure them and, if you agree, choose ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
Consent for ads will be managed by a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) that follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland it will ask for your consent before any ad cookies are set, and list every ad partner by name. If you say no, you may still see ads, but they won’t be personalized.
Ad networks in use today: none. This list is updated as soon as ads are switched on.
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Google Ad Settings: turn personalized ads off for your Google account
- YourAdChoices and Your Online Choices: opt out of personalized ads from many networks at once
Your preferences
Your units choice (inches or millimeters) and the way you like to see category pages (scenes or list) are saved in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. When the consent platform goes live with the ads, a Cookie settings link will be added at the bottom of every page.
4. Who receives your data
- Google, for visit statistics, and our advertising partners once ads are switched on, to show and measure ads. Some of them process data in the United States or other countries outside Europe; Google’s transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, and each partner’s safeguards are listed in its own privacy policy.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its server logs on our behalf, and our email provider, which delivers the messages you send through the contact form.
We don’t sell or rent personal data, and we only share it with authorities when the law requires it.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it;
- limit how we use it;
- stop using it, if we rely on legitimate interest;
- send it to you in a portable format.
Write to info@cadgrid.net or use the contact form. We answer within one month. You can withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live or work, or where you think your rights were breached.
6. Visitors from the United States
We don’t sell personal information for money. Some state laws, such as California’s, treat personalized advertising as “sharing”. Once ads are switched on, you can opt out of it in Cookie settings, in Google Ad Settings or at YourAdChoices.
7. Children
cadgrid.net is made for architects, designers, drafters and students. It isn’t aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be announced on the site.
