Frequently asked questions
How much space does a parked bicycle need?
About 2′ × 6′ (610 × 1829 mm) per bike, with a 5′ (1524 mm) aisle behind the rack, following the APBP bicycle parking guidelines. The bicycle elevation here is 74¼″ (1887 mm) long, close to that 6′ length.
How tall is a rider on an electric scooter?
The woman riding an electric kick scooter is 72⅞″ (1852 mm) high and the woman riding a self-balancing scooter 78⅜″ (1990 mm). Keep at least 80″ (2032 mm) of headroom over walks and paths (ADA 307.4), more where riders pass under signs.
Is there a mobility scooter for accessibility drawings?
Yes: the off-road mobility scooter elevation is 51½″ (1309 mm) long, and the 3D section has a woman on a mobility scooter. For turning space, design to the ADA 60″ (1525 mm) circle and check the scooter's own turning radius.
What views do the scooters and bikes come in?
They are all elevations, mostly side views at real size, from the electric unicycle at 17¾″ (450 mm) high to the portable folding electric scooter at 59⅜″ (1507 mm). For plans of bike rooms and racks, use the bicycle parking layout in Urban & sports.
